Triolo d’Alene trips up totescoop6 punters
30 November 2013
The win and bonus funds of today’s totescoop6 rolled over after Triolo d’Alene caused an upset in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury.
The mystery punter chasing the £310,839 bonus fund unsuccessfully pinned his hopes on Highland Lodge whilst the final ticket left in the win fund was out of luck on Hadrian’s Approach.
This means a total of £43,274 carries over in the win pot whilst the bonus kitty has grown to £329,385
Totepool spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “Scoop6 punters missed a trick with Triolo d’Alene so next weekend’s bet should be worth close to £500,000.”
A total of £123,640 was bet into this afternoon’s pools and there were 50 winners of the place fund which returned £494.50.
There were no winners of last night’s inaugural Friday totescoop6 from Wolverhampton and Dundalk after Danseur De Feu won the fourth leg and knocked out the last two tickets.
This means the guaranteed £100,000 combined win and bonus pools roll over to next Friday.
The place fund returned a dividend of £241.60 and there were 14 winners.

Irish contenders all the rage for Hennessy Gold Cup
28 November 2013
Lord Windermere has been cut to 7/1 (from 8/1) with Betfred for the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury on Saturday and has joined Rocky Creek at the top of the market.
Last season’s RSA Chase winner has been the subject of bullish reports from his trainer Jim Culloty and has been a steamer in the ante-post betting over the last few days.
Our Father is third in the betting at 8/1 with Betfred ahead of a quartet of horses at 10/1 including Invictus and Merry King.
Willie Mullins has declared two for the Grade 3 chase including Prince De Beauchene who will have Ruby Walsh on board. The ten-year-old was 16/1 with Betfred before the final declarations, but is now rated a 12/1 shot.
Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “Lord Windermere has been the ante-post steamer for the Hennessy and it was only a matter of time before he hit the front of the market.
“Prince De Beauchene will be popular with Ruby Walsh on board, but he has to defy the stats as a ten-year-old hasn’t won the Hennessy since Diamond Edge in 1981.”
There were no surprise withdrawals from the stanjames.com Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle and My Tent Or Yours remains a red-hot favourite at 8/11 with Betfred ahead of Melodic Rendezvous at 5/2.
Hennessy Gold Cup – Betfred bet: 7 (from 8) Lord Windermere, Rocky Creek, 8 Our Father, 10 Hadrian’s Approach, Highland Lodge, Invictus, Merry King, 12 (from 16) Prince De Beauchene, 14 Katenko, 16 Houblon Des Obeaux, Imperial Commander, Super Duty, 20 Cloudy Too, Same Difference, Triolo d’Alene, 25 Opening Batsman, Theatre Guide, 33 Cape Tribulation, Loch Ba, Terminal, 66 Whodoyouthink.

Johns Spirit one of three 8/1 co favourites for December Gold Cup
27 November 2013
Betfred have opened betting on the December Gold Cup at Cheltenham and make Colour Squadron, Johns Spirit and Unioniste their 8/1 co favourites.
Johns Spirit has won his last two starts at Prestbury Park including a narrow victory over Colour Squadron in the Paddy Power Gold Cup earlier this month.
Unioniste was a highly impressive winner of this race last year and was last seen posting a respectable third place finish in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.
The trio lead the betting from a host of talented chasers including Captain Conan, Kid Cassidy and Rolling Aces who can all be backed at 10/1 with Betfred.
Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “On the Paddy Power form there is next to nothing between Johns Spirit and Colour Squadron and it will be fascinating to see who comes out on top in a rematch.
“Unioniste hosed up by eleven lengths in last year’s renewal and he can’t be ruled out off a mark of 152.”
Looking ahead to this weekend’s racing, Highland Lodge is the latest horse to attract support in the Hennessy Gold Cup market and has been cut to 10/1 (from 12/1) with Betfred. Invictus is easy to back and has been nudged out to 8/1 (from 7/1).

Lord Windermere makes run for Hennessy favouritism
26 November 2013
Lord Windermere has been the subject of strong support for the Hennessy Gold Cup and Betfred have reacted by shortening him to 8/1 (from 11/1).
Jim Culloty’s chaser will be bidding to emulate the likes of Bobs Worth and Denman who were both RSA winners that landed the Hennessy Gold Cup later in the year.
He is now third choice in the market alongside Our Father at 8/1 with Betfred. Invictus and Rocky Creek head the betting at 7/1.
Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “Punters have been getting stuck into Lord Windermere all day.
“Jim Culloty is very hopeful of a big performance and his confidence has been reflected in the market.”
The Coral Welsh Grand National market has been lively today with Sydney Paget attracting the lion’s share of attention. He was an impressive winner at Haydock on Saturday and has claimed favouritism at 10/1 (from 12/1) with Betfred.
Looking further ahead towards the Cheltenham Festival, several lumpy bets on Ballycasey for the RSA Chase have seen him join Champagne Fever at the front of the market at 10/1 (from 14/1) with Betfred.

Cue Card 8/1 for Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup glory
23 November 2013
Cue Card has been slashed to 8/1 (from 20/1) with the sponsors for the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup after winning the Betfair Chase at Haydock this afternoon.
Colin Tizzard’s stable star is now third choice in the market behind Sir Des Champs at 6/1 and Bobs Worth who has been eased to 5/1 (from 3/1) after finishing down the field in the three-mile-one-furlong contest.
Dynaste briefly threatened approaching the final fence, but his stamina appeared to give way and has been pushed out to 16/1 (from 14/1) with Betfred for Gold Cup glory in March.
Cue Card is expected to head for the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and Betfred make him the new 3/1 favourite (from 7/1).
Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “Cue Card put any stamina doubts to bed in emphatic style this afternoon.
“His performance marks him down as the one to beat in the King George, but it will be a different kettle of fish in the Betfred Gold Cup where the Cheltenham hill brings out the best in Bobs Worth.”
Al Ferof was an easy winner of the Amlin 1965 Chase at Ascot earlier in the afternoon and has been cut to 16/1 (from 20/1) for the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup and 10/1 (from 12/1) for the King George.

£500,000 totescoop6 from Ascot and Haydock
22 November 2013
This weekend’s totescoop6 could be worth around £500,000 to a single winner after punters were unable to progress past the fifth leg last Saturday.
This left a total of £100,739 in the win fund with the bonus pot standing at £270,246.
Tomorrow’s Scoop6 features a doubleheader from Ascot and Haydock with five of the six legs live on Channel 4. The bet kicks off at 1:30pm with the Trisoft Mares’ Handicap Hurdle from the Berkshire racecourse.
totepool spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “The totescoop6 pools are really beginning to beef up and a single winner of this weekend’s bet could be in line for a £500,000 windfall.”

Bobs Worth and Silvianaco Conti head Betfair Chase market
21 November 2013
Bobs Worth and Silvianaco Conti are 9/4 joint favourites with Betfred for the Betfair Chase after a field of eight was declared for Saturday’s contest.
Dynaste is next in the betting at 6/1 with Betfred followed by the heavily backed Cue Card at 7/1. Long Run is a 12/1 shot to go one better than when he finished second in last year’s race.
Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “All the big guns have been declared and it looks a race to relish.
“Bobs Worth is the best backed of the two market leaders, but Cue Card has been a springer in the betting and is 7/1 to upset the applecart.”
Bobs Worth is 9/1 with Betfred to win the Betfair Chase and go on to land a second Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.
